2024 San Diego Surfing Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

The San Diego Surfing Hall of Fame was created out of the surfing community’s response to our Skip Frye Tribute presented during our 2017 San Diego Surf Film Festival. We began the festival in 2012 and every year we pick a surfing legend to represent one of our film awards and Skip became the obvious choice to be the 2017. We saved the “Spirit of the Festival” award for Skip knowing it would be perfect for Skip’s soul style.

I remember walking around before the event and realized something big was going to happen but had no idea. There were so many folks trying to sneak in because the tickets sold out so quickly. I actually buckled and let most in.

The Skip Frye Tribute changed everything. The event sold-out in record time. Everyone loves Skip.

The response from the surfing community was so overwhelming we instantly understood there was a need to pay respect to all San Diego Surf Royalty that have graced the waters before us. As a result, the San Diego Surfing Hall of Fame was created.

We have inducted over 40 legends during our three Induction Ceremonies to sold out crowds and have a lot more folks to make San Diego Surfing Hall of Fame Members but need your help to make the surfing community’s dreams come true.
